AQS Insurance Symposium 2024

Running an insurance company became a lot more challenging in 2023. Residual inflation exacerbated operating costs and the Federal Reserve continued to increase short-term rates while simultaneously allowing bonds and mortgages previously held on their balance to mature at a pace of almost $90 billion a month.

The increase in short-term rates increased lapse at annuity companies and the corresponding decline in prices made liquidating portfolio assets more costly for life and property / casualty companies. Inflation of this magnitude, not witnessed since the 1980s made repair and replacement costs, operating expense higher as well. Low unemployment made talent more expensive and harder to source.

By the time of our 2024 Symposium, we will have the results of financial reporting for 2023 as well as regulatory testing. Certainly there will be questions and we’ve selected our speakers with an eye toward answering those questions and others. We hope you will join us!
